About

I moved to Anchorage on January 5th of 2012, flying into a blizzard wondering what I had gotten myself into. There is something about flying thousands of miles and landing in the unknown that makes a person question their decisions. It took about five years before I was certain that Alaska was where I would make my home. What convinced me were the people, the mountains, and the rich potential to build one’s life here.

I plan to raise a family in Alaska and, while I hope the day does not come for a long time, I plan to be buried here. This is why I am not willing to sit back and watch Alaska’s future unfold. While Alaskan’s are known for being independent and pioneering, we are also known to quickly offer a helping hand. We have a large transient and transplant population, so folks will make sure that a hike or a holiday is not unwillingly spent alone.

I have been incredibly fortunate to meet local mentors who encouraged me to learn, grow, and contribute to my community. These have included artists who have shared studio space with me, organizational development consultants who have helped me build Alaska Seeds of Change, and friends who have invited me to join them on adventures to places I never could have imagined before moving here.
